We are all learners. From the time that we are born, we begin to learn everything – from taking our first breath, eating, crawling, walking, talking. Everything. Some things we learn without effort; some from trial and error. As we continue to mature and grow, we begin to challenge ourselves to learn more, do more and we often learn through our mistakes. Sometimes we watch, observe and even attempt to learn from others’ and when we observe their mistakes, we do so to keep from making the same error.
In the business world, we often call learning from others and implementing processes from those successes, “best practices”. We are often eager to understand how someone else approached a challenge and found a solution. Perhaps, we will be able to apply it to our own business challenge in some way?.
However, it is my belief that the lessons that truly stick with us come from our up-close and personal experiences. These experiences have guided some best practices in my business resulting in multiple successes.
