discomfort,
but as a Practitioner, I know that the answer will demonstrate to the level of my belief. I
have learned to remain composed and steadfast. Here’s another personal example of how
these traits can work to bring about a positive manifestation of our faith.
Shortly after our daughter Jenny and her dog took up temporary residence with us,
while she searched for the perfect condo to buy. Very early one Sunday morning, our
beloved Tiptoe started to bark. Jenny called out from her room, “I’ll take him out.”
About ten minutes later, our bedroom door swung open and Tiptoe leaped onto the bed
reeking of a nasty odor. We knew exactly what it was. Jenny poked her head through the
doorway. “Sorry. Tiptoe got skunked. Unfortunately, the skunk got into the house. I don’t
know where it is.”

What! A skunk in the house?
Ian rolled out of bed, grabbed the flashlight in a bedside table drawer and headed out
of the room. Very calmly, I said, “I have to shower first. I’ll join you in about five
minutes.” I noticed that Tiptoe was not only skunked, he was spooked. We couldn’t count
on him to assist with the search.
When I arrived downstairs, Ian was investigating every nook and cranny in the family
room, but from a distance. His eyes followed the beam from the flashlight as it flitted
from corner to corner. Jenny had a doggie gate that shut off whatever room we wanted to
barricade from entry by any of our dogs. I headed for the fireplace, thinking I’d turn it on
for additional light. I stopped in my tracks when I heard a movement in it.
“It’s in the fireplace hearth,” I announced. “I’ll call Critter Control.” What I got was
advice from them, not on-site help. “They said we should open the nearest door and put
