Takeru motioned Alisha over to his terminal without taking his eyes from the screen. Once there she gave him a crisp salute and said, “Sir?”
Takeru recounted with very little emotion, “Alert LJ that he has surfaced on the grid. His actions were picked up by the SABOTAGE program. Sequential Algorithms Based On Timely Assessments to Garble Eavesdropping is key to my organization for flying under the radar of those who would try and stop us. If my Big Data program can recognize his efforts, in concert with our ancillary efforts in this commodity, then so can others. Put a call into him to terminate his exposure. There must be no trace, am I clear?”
Alisha was already pulling out her fruit phone to dial the stored number as Takeru dispassionately finished his sentence. LJ felt his phone vibrating in its holster and quickly took a look to see who it was. He might have ignored it, but it had a famous Lonnie Lupnerder song for a ringtone that caught the attention of Alonzo who promptly added the lyrics to the ringtone. At that point, LJ figured it would be a good time to excuse himself to take the call outside. LJ got up and offered, “Apologies, but I need to take this call. I’ll be right back, kind sir.”
The Lonnie Lupnerder ring tone had put Alonzo in a good mood, and he continued to hum along with the tune in his head as he, from time to time, made air drum gestures as though he was part of the band.
LJ stepped outside the offices and asked, “Hon, whatcha doing calling me at this precise moment? I’m teeing up the bulk of the oil tankers I need for my project, and we are down to the final paperwork that needs to be filed electronically. Sure hope this is worth the interruption.”
Alisha cut right to the point. “You got famous with your activity, LJ. Your current activity surfaced moments ago on that fancy program called SABOTAGE, and the Director of CHARD said for you to terminate all actions, and I do mean terminate.”
She moved to an area that had the additional ambient noises of more servers and lowered her voice as she continued, “Now, he didn’t ask, but I’ll bet you needs to go speak with him ASAP about this so you don’t end up like Moncrieff. Understand?”
LJ ground his teeth and slowly shook his head back and forth in anger. He took a couple of deep breaths and replied, “Well, dammit! Looks like I ain’t any better than old Moncrieff. The only thing I got going for me is that he can’t have me sneak up on myself from behind. Argh!”
