It was late afternoon and most students and teachers at Bel Air Private High School had already left. Noise came only from the busy newspaper room, as the paper had to go out by tomorrow morning.
“Mary Kay, we need that article ready by tomorrow,” Veronica said in a firm voice. She was very serious about her work. She wanted everything to be as perfect as possible, however not everyone working at the Bel Air High School Paper necessarily had the same work ethics as she. Veronica stared at Mary Kay with her most serious eyes waiting for a response, as if she was a commander who had just given an order.
“Oh, Veronica. You’re always so serious…” she giggled and paused for a moment, choosing her words carefully. “Hey, what’s going on with James and you? I didn’t see you together this morning!”
The paper was the last thing on her mind at this moment. In fact ever since Veronica had been dating James, all she had been thinking about was how she now had the opportunity to get closer to the popular group with Enya and Michael and maybe be invited to parties and social events. It was huge and could be life changing for her, she thought.
