I was formally ordained in 2015 in Houston, Texas. I began praying for the sick and the oppressed in 1985. My experiences range from teaching in a prison and churches to being part of an international healing team sent to Brazil in 2012. I have published my first book Finding Your Destiny in Christ: Stories of the Miraculous. The stories are true accounts of what happens when you are seeking the purpose for which you were created and how it may lead you to unexpected circumstances and places. From ministering to the homeless, the addicted, the broken hearted and even those involved in the occult, many lessons were learned about the ministry and faith outside the church walls. When ministry becomes real and ongoing it is beyond a prayer event. VoiceofBartimaeusMinistries.com
A woman minister went to the doctor. She had a very traumatic year that would destroy most people. The doctor asked her, "How are you?" The woman replied. "Fine." The doctor looked her in the eyes and said, "How are you really!" Many people develop a false self for protection. This self represents who we want people to think we are.The rational is "If they knew what I was like, they would not like me." Being authentic with Jesus and with each other brings peace. Maintaining a false self often delays healing that God wants to do.
Inner Healing and Deliverance
Chapter 7 Community in Healing It was almost midnight in the church in Brazil. The members of the healing team had been praying for people for hours. When the lady I was praying for fell to the floor, I knew by the way she fell that we were about to have a confrontation. I asked my interpreter Angelina to find out what the lady was experiencing. The lady put her hands to her throat. I commanded what was choking her to stop and it did. She was able to talk and said her whole body was in pain and something was going to kill her. I had my interpreter translate some things but not others. The important thing was for this to be gone. The pain left and the lady’s fear left. She said, “Something left me.” We got the lady some water and I left Angelina with her as I went to look for a church staff member. I managed to find the Senior Pastor’s wife on stage. She came with me and Angelina explained what had happened in Portuguese. The Pastor’s wife embraced the woman and held her for a while. The lady was part of a home group in the church. The Pastor’s Wife thanked me and said she would follow up with the lady and her home group. It was after midnight and I was missing the post ministry supper in the church basement. I knew I still needed to pray for Angelina. Angelina had interpreted for me earlier when a woman who was lame and losing her sight got dramatically healed. I prayed for the woman’s husband who was a stroke victim. The large cyst on his head shrunk to half its’ size, but not much else happened. I was puzzled as so much had happened to his wife. I told Angelina I needed to pray for her but I did not know why. She and another team member who came up agreed I was supposed to pray. Then Angelina mentioned that she had transported the elderly couple to the church. I realized the man’s healing was to come through her. I raised my hand and before it got halfway up she fell to the ground. She was shaking under the power of God. We put a modesty cloth over her. I had to go since the bus was leaving. She was still on the floor when I left. There was a well established community in this church. They met in homes every week and people knew each other’s lives. With a couple of thousand people in this church, the pastors could not possibly give attention to everyone. In one of the churches, a lady’s daughter had been pronounced dead when a motorcycle had hit her. Her mother would not let the paramedics take her, even though they insisted she was dead. The home group leader was called and rushed to the scene. She prayed for the girl and the girl took a deep breath and came back. The video of the testimony is on YouTube. This week I began a 90 day accountability session with a young man who has been struggling for ten years. Every day we meet and teaching, communion, and prayer take place. He keeps thanking me and it makes me uncomfortable. If he is really my brother in Christ there is not an option for me to not be present. To know and be known is how the early church began. Anonymity leaves the devil a lot of ground to work in.
