Handicapped

As I worked on "Showing Up To Play" it was very difficult to write about certain issues that I had faced in my life. Born with a congenital hip I walked with a severe limp until my hip was replaced at age 45. Over my life time I have had 12 major surgeries. I tell you this, for one reason, until I wrote this book I would never say the word handicapped. I refused to use the word because I never wanted to admit that I was possibly in that category. Those thoughts actually, I have learned, held me back in life. We are what we are and by facing our challenges we can better take on life and the challenges that we face. Handicapped is something we brand ourselves with society cannot. They can call us whatever but we are what we believe we are.

We can all get there.

Whatever we want in life we can achieve the key is that "When our dreams are bigger then our fears we can do anything." Fear holds more people back in life than any other single issue.
