Remember the first time you were intimate with the person you love. Sometimes it can be awkward, yet you'll never forget it. Imagine if the first time you felt the special something deep in your soul that you and your partner were in separate, dark, dreary cells. The cement floor beneath you was hard and cold. Still, as you whisper words of love and imagine your partner's hands on your flesh, it's as if you were breathing each other's air. Writing scenes like this can be difficult emotionally. I want my two characters to have a normal life and I know what their future holds. This book is not for the faint of heart.
What would you do if you found yourself in pitch black, in a cold cell with no one with whom to talk? Would you slowly lose your mind?

When David visits the gallery to sell his pieces, he wears his baseball cap low, only looking Jessica's way when she is occupied with someone else. Jessica secretly glances in David's direction and often hides in the backroom or behind customers when he stops by. When her vibrancy is tragically taken away, David does whatever he can to help her. Will it be enough?
Although a bit sappy, I adore this scene. David is so deeply in love with Jess. He wants to capture every special moment on canvas. How special Jess must feel when she sees the portrait her husband created. A love this deep is once in a lifetime, no? For most yes. And honestly, in the beginning of writing the story, I had a completely different ending in mind. I can't tell you here. You'll have to read to find out.
How many people would stay when there was so little chance that things could get better? How many spouses would tend to their loved one's every need without response, without thanks, and without an end to the torment of living and knowing that at any moment, the life force would disappear from their loved one's eyes. Would you stay?
Not many get a chance at true love. What David and Jessica share is rare and beautiful. He is her hero, her protector, and he will do anything for her... Take a journey through life's difficult passageway with David as he discovers that there may be more than a once in a lifetime.

Anonymity. A night alone for the thoughts in his brain to stew. That's what Brighton needed. Then she sat down on the bar stool net to him and put the wheels in motion for a bumpy ride. Feat gave me great joy to write. Going back and forth, making sure the clues were left and didn't tell too much too soon. Mystery is challenging yet so much fun to write.
Just when you think things are falling into place, the suspect has been located, and Cecelia is tucked away where no one will find her... Find out what happens next.

Sera is a troubled soul. Her tormented memories had been shoved so deep into her psyche that eventually, the seal which held them there would break, and all the black horror would spew forth. While writing, I tend to let the characters lead me. I know it sounds strange, yet they do speak to me. I may have a beginning and an end in mind but the ride takes a few twists and turns. And sometimes the end changes. The story of Sera brought me through some of my own challenges. I'm indecisive and cautious yet other times, I jump straight in and enjoy chaos. In the end, I hope to help people, show them you can survive. No matter what life throws at you, having a support system is vital. Surround yourself with good, caring people. They will help you manage the rocky waters of life.
At their first encounter, he found Sera mysterious. Although she acted demure and subservient, something told him she had several facets, a number of faces, a different image she projected depending on the situation. He wanted, no... needed to know more about her. Nothing would deter him from finding out just what Sera was hiding.
There is nothing sexier than a man singing the song he wrote for the woman he loves.
What did Sera find? What visions came to mind when she read the words, all written in different styles, spanning possibly years. Would this be a leap forward in self-discovery or an impetus for her to retreat deeper into the darkness?
In the daylight, Sera was shy, introverted, and wary. At night, when she walked through the doors of Under Haven, her demeanor changed. She was in charge. She said who. She decided when. And no one got in the way of what she wanted. How will Blaze react to the darker side of Sera?
Sera, Blaze, Terry and Martha have no idea that the decisions they make today will change their lives forever. Take a journey down a path of self-discovery, close friendships, and ever-lasting bonds. We all need someone to lean on. What could be better than four great friends who can lean together even when one is about to lose herself in the memories she'd rather forget.
