CHILDREN LOVE A GOOD STORY WITH BEAUTIFUL ILLUSTRA

Samples of beautiful illustrated drawings included in the 12 books of the Bedside Story Collection Series are here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fql8ZzhISM With a unique and captivating book for each month of the year, the beautiful "Bedside Story Collection Series" affords parents and children an opportunity to share the perfect moment together. I began writing little stories for children of friends and relatives that included their personal data about their personal lives. This happened about 15 years before such books became popular commercially. It was these stories that formed the basis of my first children’s book, Twelve Upon A Time …

Beginnings

Biographies & Memoirs

Beginnings is based on the lives of Greg and his girlfriend Charly that propels the reader on an emotional roller coaster, as events unfold in their lives, including the more absurd and humorous aspects of life. Beginnings traverses the singledom lives of Greg and Charly and bring them together. The global benchmarks that help define them and a people unfold for each decade of their lives. We all encounter collectively many beginnings and beginnings of the end. We share them for they are part of what we call the human condition. Greg and Charly experience many beginnings and beginnings of the end—some predictable, some unexpected. Some beginnings are critical moments in our lives as they forever change us for better or worse—they bring us together or tear us apart. They are intimately tied to human relationships as they strengthen or weaken the stuff that binds us. The beginnings that impact on Greg and Charly unfold in the pages to come. Yet, these are not necessarily unique experiences and readers will relate to their own beginnings and beginnings of the end.

YOU'RE SO FAR AWAY

One of the greatest blisses of marriage is the expectation of your first child. Greg and his wife Charly were like many couples who are about to experience parenthood for the first time. All the blessed feelings that go with the expectancy of child birth and future hopes of what your child might become as he or she grows under your loving care. This chapter excerpt follows one of many paths that life events may take.

Chapter 1 - The Sum of the Parts

These are the sum of my parts that I remember today and shared with the peers of my yesterday. These are the experiences that influenced my parents and, in turn, impacted on my life choices. My father died in February 2004. My mother is robust 91 today, with all her aches and pains. On the front cover of my novel is a picture of a nurse holding a baby...my first photo...I looked even bored back then!

THE MELTING POT, SLICE OF LIFE AND CHARLY

We all encounter collectively many beginnings and beginnings of the end. We share them for they are part of what we call the human condition. Greg and his girlfriend Charly experience many beginnings and beginnings of the end—some predictable, some unexpected. For my slice of life, the decades span from the 1950s to 2000. Prior to that period, my parents became part of the melting pot of life in these United States. The melting pot of Americanism does not exist any more. It has given way to a sort of sectarianism, where Americanism has become limited in character, spirit and scope.

Side-Stepping the Rules

Humor & Entertainment

“Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not” provides the gift of laughter from the male perspective as it offers men childish ways for escaping the clutches of the woman who thinks she is Mrs. Right. Quite by accident, it offers women time-tested strategies how to snag their man. First was “The Rules: Time-tested Secrets for Capturing the Heart of Mr. Right” by Fein and Schneider (Warner Books). Several years later the parody book, “Breaking the Rules: Last-ditch Tactics for Landing the Man of Your Dreams” by Banks and Barber (Career Press). As a parody, it offered, "All rules are made to be broken.” Now it's time for the sensitive man's point of view in this parody of a parody, “Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not.” Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not offers men childish ways for escaping the clutches of the woman, even a RB (Rule Breakin’) woman, who thinks she is Mrs. Right. Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not provides the sensitive male with 11 manifestos as countermeasures to the wiles of RB women. No worries mate! If you fail to apply successfully the first manifesto, you still have 10 more chances to fight off those pesky RB women. Even if you are unsuccessful with the first 10 manifestos, the final manifesto, "Sell your house and blend invisibly with the homeless," still provides you—the most pitiful representation of mankind—a way out.

You Must Understand What You Are Hearing

A typical conversation might go like this: WHAT SHE SAYS WHAT HE HEARS 1. Hi. 1. I want something from you and no matter what you do, I’m going to get it from you. 2. What’s your name? 2. I’ll need your name for the legal documents when we go to court . 3. My, you have a nice house. 3. My stuff will fit quite well here. 4. How do you keep it so clean? 4. Don’t expect me to start cleaning house, doing laundry, washing windows, etc. 5. Been here long? 5. How fast will it take you to move out? 6. Are you financially independent? 6. I won’t lower my standards and even if you have to work two or three jobs, you will keep me living at the level to which I am accustomed. 7. What do you do for entertainment? 7. We will go to the dinner theater and symphony; the remote control will be burned.

Avoid Eye Contact with Women and for Heaven’s Sake

A big fuss is made of eye contact in psychiatry. The mature, emotionally balanced individual is able to initiate and sustain ocular contact. Presumably, those who inconsistently maintain, avert or avoid eye contact are less healthy, less assertive or attempting to hide something—or perhaps just legally blind. Of course, there is always an exception to every rule. Those male individuals who gawk and ogle at women are blatantly transparent with an obvious modus operandi. If you are a male gawker or ogler, forget it! You are beyond hope. You stand there drooling and you are not only susceptible to the hook (or hooker), you likely invite such behavior with that wantoned look on your face. A quick wink or fleeting eye contact and you are putty in the hands of the winker. Dictate your last will and testament and have it notarized that you are legally insane for it is all over for you.

The Man Index

The flow of the book "Side-Stepping the Rules: Broken or Not" required that I summarize all the knowledge provided. This summary is represented graphically by THE MAN INDEX! Essentially, you are what you eat, which also happens to determine your dating future. It is sort of like genetics where there is a degree of predisposition and you have to work awful hard to avoid you dating/relationship r destiny. This excerpt describes one dimension of the MAN INDEX.

Warning! Even the most disgusting man has a match

Thankfully, in this parody, my feelings toward women are not reflected in this book. I had to take a consistent and opposite point of view for the words to flow naturally. The writing of this book was interesting in that I had to reject constantly my point of view and play devil's advocate. I was involved in so much check finding that I was not really sure how I felt by the end of the book. You be the judge!

Mirror, Mirror at 1600 D.C.

Mystery, Thriller & Suspense

The role of the Presidency is complicated more than enough for Elizabeth Ashton without the added political burden of being the first woman elected to this high office in America. She is delighting her supporters and converting readily her critics when she goes missing while attending a fundraiser. The unfolding plot is a matter of survival—not only personal survival, but also hanging in the balance is the endurance of the Presidency and democracy in America. REVIEW OF MIRROR, MIRROR AT 1600 D.C. by D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review “The President of the United States is female, successful, and beloved – and has been kidnapped. It stands to reason that the top, most trusted agents will spring into action to get her back at any cost, dead or alive. And so it’s logical that a reader coming into the story could believe this will be a political novel – but they’d be wrong. It would have been a logical choice; but all too easy to write – and that’s what elevates Mirror, Mirror at 1600 D.C. beyond the usual genre read. Edward Galluzzi’s attention to multi-faceted details and stories and relationships between Hannah, Harrison (her personal bodyguard, who shares center stage with her), and others makes for a resoundingly realistic and compelling storyline..." Chapter 9 Double Take

In this chapter, it is one of the few times that the reader gains insight into the relationship of Mentor (Greg) and his special agent, Hardware (Harrison). The intensity of the ongoing case allowed for little familiarity among the men, as the search for the president took center stage. Yet, professionalism sometimes must give access to friendship if the relationship is to endure. And Mentor and Hardware have that kind of relationship where neither one has to complete a sentence or thought for the other to understand. There is comfort in that kind of familiarity.

You Never Know for Sure when Writing a Novel

Writing this novel seemed simple enough at the start. You describe an event in American history that almost every citizen can see coming from a mile away: the electiion of the first woman President of the United States. Initially, my inspiration in writing the novel was (1) the belief that the event of nominating the first woman president in America would soon occur; and (2) it was long overdue given the state of affairs in Washington and the rest of the world shaped by men during my lifetime. I did not want to write solely a political novel. During the year of writing, I was intrigued by elements of mystery, suspense and romance, with a little humor thrown in on the side to seduce the reader in the story. I think I am a frustrated comedian at heart. The reader will become emotionally involved with the main characters through not only their interactions with each other, but the events that propel the main characters. It is these events that supply the mystery, suspense and romance in "Mirror, Mirror at 1600 D.C." Plot twists and turns are important in writing this kind of novel, and there are enough of them to satisfy even the most passionate reader with the final twist arriving late in the book.
