In the second book of the Collector trilogy, Cyris has been found by a group of special beings who are being led by a terrible man. He has used one of his special powers to use them to find Cyris who now he must met and convince on giving up the one thing that makes Cyris Cyris. But then Clarece, the barrister from the coffee shop below where Cyris lives has found an ally who has a plan which will change everything. And there are memories of Tabytha... they haunt Cyris and plunges him into an unnatural depression that is only helped by his ability to drink wine and make more wine.

And then she met Cyris.
He was kind to her and could relate to her suffering more than anyone could. And he loved her. He was a mystical being created by unnatural means, but in Tabytha, he had found a being whose vary essence fit so well into his own, he could lose himself... literally.
But they were not alone. Cyris was being pursued by a group of powerful beings who each had a special gift which they would use to find him. And when they found him, what they thought would be the outcome was no where near the truth.

Closerness
Tab and Cyris were meant for each other, mainly due to her second unique power. In this scene, Cyris has been attached by Clareece whom he has subdued. As he watches the naked woman sleep, he remembers his first night with Tabytha. It pains him. But it also makes him happy.
He can be happy
It's one of the rare times that Cyris allows himself to be happy. Of course, the happiness comes from other people and not himself. Of course when he is happy, something has to happen to change his mood.
Coffee to Wine
It's one of the tricks Cyris uses the most throughout the book. He also can turn water into vodka , plus a thousand other powers.
However, he drinks in excess to not show off. He drinks to forget and it helps him cope with his life, with his dealing with other people, and with his loneliness.
He misses Tabytha. And drinking helps him live with the knowledge that he helped kill her.
