Getting started
I wanted to start the book with some insight into the main character and his disposition towards human interaction. He is jaded, bitter, angry and frustrated - at the very bottom of the food chain. This feeling isn't new to him, he's been here long enough for this to become his reality. This is a key foundation for the story that follows and his journey towards redemption. I also wanted to establish early that he has had to stoop to things he wouldn't have previously dreamed of, that he has reached lows he never could have imagined. This becomes and important plot device as the book progresses and his choices are challenged by an unseen entity.
