Book Details Author Halimah Bellows gives hope with her inspiring book and motivates readers to go the extra mile, experiment with new careers, and be confident about the choices we make in the careers that we choose. This book is a gem. The information and knowledge the author has can help someone have a brighter future and achieve much more than they thought they would. Halimah Bellows not only writes like an experienced career coach but you also get to enjoy the prudence she shares in the book and even feel her passion. I love that the author not only wrote about one’s professional life but also touched on other aspects of a person’s image. The author shares stories of her personal life, her family, the growth she has witnessed, and even adds in a few jokes when sharing life lessons. When writing about a particular topic, the author exhausts all points and even adds more information that you never knew you needed. Halimah Bellows is engaging throughout her book. While reading this practical self-help guide you notice that the author aims to communicate directly with the reader. This is through the short questions she asks and later answers, real-life experiences she narrates about, and her style of writing that makes one reflect on the choices they made. The first chapter in the book was one of my favorites. It is titled ‘Focus on Your Future'. This chapter is helpful to many because we all think about what the future holds for us. As a young person, senior citizen, or even a student, reading this topic will open your eyes to many things in life. You will understand the importance of planning for your future and learned that the decisions you make today will affect the outcome of things in the future. Every topic in the book is enlightening. Want to change careers? Thinking of trying a new hobby? Want to make more money? Are you considering going back to school? Do you want to change your circle of friends? Does retirement scare you? These and more questions will be answered in the book. After reading is enlightening book, one feels refreshed and ready to face any challenge they encounter in their career. The gentle tone, relatable stories, informative content in the book, and a little history of the author made the reading experience fun and exciting. Champion Your Career is the kind of book that you keep as reference material because the advice in the book will never go out of fashion. Reasons I enjoyed this book:

Book is very well written -- concise and clearly written. Lots and lots of idea related to your career and how to focus on what you really want to do. Many charts and checklists to help you clarify your thinking and move forward. Good for people new to the job market (e.g. graduating students) as well as working people who are considering a change.

Champion Your Career: Winning in the World of Work is a fantastic book at any stage of your professional. Whether you’re still in college figuring out what you want to do, having a career crisis in your mid-forties or already a retiree, there’s something in here for everyone.
Halimah Bellows is no stranger to professional advises. She is a career coach and counselor, so she has inside knowledge on how to make changes or have a more realistic approach into the job market. It’s a very practical and informative book, with some very handy information regarding curriculum writing, preparing for interviews or simple how to find the right company for you. There’s an ongoing sense of positivity and “you can do it” that is a bit inspirational, especially for those who are going through a rough patch and may feel a bit discouraged or lost on what to do with their life.

    Great book!

    (Review via Epic Book Quest)

Career counselor and coach, Halimah Bellows, delivers an insightful guide designed to help lead readers through the process of both choosing and pursuing a career that is the right fit for them. Uniquely combining career coaching with career counseling, the book presents readers with intensive questions designed to help them discover their individual skills, talents, goals, and passions- showing them how they can use that knowledge to select a personally fulfilling career- along with supplying innumerable tools and strategies to then acquire a position in their desired field.

Champion Your Career is a fantastic resource for people of all life stages, from college students who are struggling to pick the right career path, to those who are already in the work force but feel ready for a change, all the way through the retirement stage- and I can especially see this being a great book for junior high and high school students who are beginning to plan for college and/or their future careers. The book is full of questions designed to get your creative juices flowing to discover just what exactly you are good at and passionate about, and (perhaps most importantly) also contains excellent strategies for overcoming your personal hangups by dealing with insecurities and doubts (dubbed “Gremlins”). Self-empowering, motivational, and practical at the same time, this book will inspire you to use the information presented to put together a plan and start taking the steps needed to land (or create!) your personal dream job. A well-written and informative read, highly recommended!
