Customer Reviews
A wonderful introduction to the series!
When a young man offers Jarvis Mann, private detective, to help him track down his missing Ernie Banks rookie baseball card worth over a grand, Jarvis decides that he has nothing better to do and takes the case. Expecting to find it laying on the ground somewhere, or discover that one of the young man's friends picked it up, Jarvis helps the young man retrace his steps. What they discover at the end of their investigation tests a friendship and reveal what kind of person the young man is.
Filled with dry humor and wit, this wonderful short story is a great introduction to the Jarvis Mann Detective Series. Given the length of the book, the character creation and setting were good; readers get a feel for who Jarvis Mann is and the type of cases he is used to working. The moral of the story was a bit unexpected but still rang true without being preachy.
Based on what I have read, I am definitely looking forward to reading the full-length novels in the series!
