God Is Enough: Losing My Husband to Suicide Kindle Edition

4.7 out of 5 stars 56 ratings

Where do you go when life as you know it is turned completely upside down? It happened to me. The life I knew and loved vanished on August 7, 2013 when my college sweetheart and husband of 33 years chose to end his life. There are not words to describe my shock and devastation. Though I was surrounded with wonderful, loving people, none of them could restore the half of me that died that day. This was a God-sized task! This is my journey through shock, grief, mourning and healing. It is the very personal and profound journey I took to ultimately discover that no matter how deep your pain…God is always there and He is enough. If you are grieving, God Is Enough will give you hope. I understand what you are going through, and I am here to share my message of hope, healing and faith.

ME Louis very descriptively, honestly, realistically, and spiritually reflects on the worst time in her life in a way that would help anyone who has lost a spouse to better live with the "hand" which has been suddenly dealt to them. As a sudden young widow 24 years ago, a book like this would have helped to better prepare me for the road ahead in a life that suddenly had gone from "normal" to "abnormal". ME honestly reflects on how the death of Tate not only affected her day to day life, but also how it became a spiritual journey and source of ministry in her life to others. ME not only describes her own journey and how it affected her, but also speaks and teaches how to work one's way, not just to GET OVER IT....BUT TO GET THROUGH IT!! I highly recommend this book for those who become widow(ers) through not only suicide, but also through any other form of death!! I could not hardly put this book down and it is a quick read! I am sure had I read it 24 years ago it would have helped me to better understand that the feelings I was experiencing were ok.

The author takes us on a raw and powerful journey through the profound grief of losing her husband to suicide to healing through her faith in God. M.E. walks us through how she went from wishing and praying that God would end her life to anticipating daily opportunities He gives her to comfort and minister to others. Her book is packed with Scripture, giving hope to those seeking God, finding purpose and healing in their suffering. Though her story is about tragic loss, her journey is for anyone who is seeking a deeper relationship with God. She appeals to those of us that want to comfort grieving people with helpful do's and don'ts. M.E. wraps up her story, inviting you to to know the One who walked this journey with her like no one else could. "God is enough" is a powerful testimony of His love and faithfulness and our only true source of hope and healing.

I couldn't put this book down! I don't like reading books but bought this for the subject matter. I only wish I had purchased hard copy instead of kindle so I could pass it on to so many who could be helped. This is therapy for those who have lost loved ones. My favorite parts were the verses of encouragement and describing steps the author took in recovery. Plus the story itself! I also like that it wasn't a very long book, but said what needed to be said. The additional resources that helped the author were also great!

I would like to say thank you to the author for writing this book. I lost my fiance to suicide 36 days ago & our wedding would of been April 24th of this month. This book has given me so much comfort to know that God is with me through all of the pain. The ten years we shared together as a couple will always be in my heart, but I still have a purpose for being here. I have comfort that he is with the Lord & at peace.

I loved the title of this book, it really shows that GOD is enough to bring you through personal trails. I have used this book as a tool to give out to many of my friends that have gone through the lose of a husband. I am also grateful that M.E. Louis shared the do's and dont's when dealing with friends going through trying to live again after losing a husband or wife. The scripture pages in the back of the book make it easy for someone to tear out a page and post it in their home to help in a daily walk of God's healing power and grace.

This book was exactly what I needed when I needed it. No one wants to be a member of this club but unfortunately we have no choice. Your loved one makes a tragic decision and your life is changed forever. To be able to walk the new path that is your life you need someone to help and M. E. Louis is that someone for me. She shared her own tragic journey and in so doing pulled me out of the darkest moment of my life. Not only that but she provided her email address and responded to my reaching out by sending me local places to go for help. Through her help I found a great grief share group where I am able to work through my grief following the suicide of my own husband. I owe her a huge debt of gratitude.
