Personal Experience
I was never in a business in my professional career where we did not keep score. I believe that process excellence, discussed in the previous chapter, requires keeping score if you are going to achieve world-class performance. I have designed some charts that could make it easy for you as the business leader to monitor KPI performance for each department, and the business in total. In the examples I provided, the KPI scores indicate good performance in all departments and an overall score of 87 percent for the business. You could probably have your information technology (IT) department take this template and create a monthly report for you to monitor KPIs. Each department would simply have to load the performance data for each KPI, and the computer program could do the rest. If you measure it, you can manage it!
