It is difficult to imagine a story about zombies, vampires, or aliens that has not already been told many times over. Immortal Peace puts a twist on the common genre of science fiction by combining the elements of multiple well-known concepts. This story follows Mario Ramirez, a family man in Chicago, as he and his family witness the world erupt when aliens appear on Earth, not with a warning of waging war, but with a peace offering. The Gift is a promising medicinal panacea. When scientists first study the vaccine, they immediately find the potential value of the drug. Unbeknownst to the world, this medicine has some latent adverse side effects that are in no way beneficial. Now the world must wonder whether the Gift is a genuine act of kindness, or possibly the most complex military coup known to mankind.
This clip initially introduces the alien presence, although most viewers believe it to be a hoax. I felt it best to slowly introduce the aliens through television and other sources of media, as that is how most of us gather information. This is a theme that repeats throughout the book, as mass hysteria spreads through the media. It all starts with a short news story, and eventually becomes the only story on the news.

Immortal Peace
The clip took over the screen. A young lady in a one-piece blue swimsuit lying on a yellow towel on the beach waved at the camera and smiled. The camera turned up to view the ocean. A couple in their bathing suits walked out of the water laughing. They both looked into the camera and posed for it. Something distracted them for a moment. They looked up past the man holding the camera; the man squinted a little harder and began to point toward something behind the camera. A quiet humming could be heard in the background. The camera turned to look out to the city. It looked as if a large black Frisbee was being thrown toward the cameraman from a distance. But it was not a Frisbee at all. A disc-shaped hovering space ship sped toward him with speed that could match that of some of the fastest man-made aircrafts. It zipped over the zenith of the man with the camera. As it passed, he failed to keep his footing and fell backward, dropping the camera. Audible beeps coming from the television speakers gave the impression that a lot of explicit language was used in the original footage and was censored by the news studio. Between the beeps were screams and the sound of the ship whirring, similar to the sound of a person whistling and humming simultaneously. As the camera laid sideways on the sandy beach, covered in grains of sand, there were a few seconds when the ship was visible. As the reporter had said in her report, it quickly dissolved into the distant sky. The camera was lifted up and dusted off by the man. He tried to zoom in quickly enough to catch another glimpse of the ship, but it had sped off too far to be observed. The view then switched between the cityscape and the beach. The woman on the towel had become pale and began shaking. The two other friends ran over to her in an attempt to comfort her.
