We seem to need permission to live our lives one decision at a time, messy and imperfectly, longing for more but not knowing how to get there. It’s as if permission would make it OK and then we could let down the burden we carry around full of worry and fear and doubt. Well, here’s permission: You are free to live the best life you can with what you have right now.
If you are a single mom you are off the hook to be both parents and make sure you are everything your children need. If you are a stay-at-home mom you are off the hook to have to be busy all the time so it doesn’t seem you are “wasting” your life. If you are in the marketplace you are off the hook to have to balance making everything from scratch to being perfectly coiffed for work. But this is not my permission, I am no one. This is permission from God Himself to stop comparing your life to anyone else’s and instead enjoy what He has given you. It’s the comparison that kills our joy and steals our peace.
