“Oh no, not again,” I murmured in disbelief, as I watched my next-door neighbour mowing our joint front lawn. Sadly, our townhouses were joined as well. Dropping the curtain, I ran to the front door, promising myself that I would do him no harm, even though at that very minute I wanted to throttle my new neighbour. Throwing the door wide open, I made my way down the porch stairs, my short legs striding with purpose towards the barbarian.
“Brody!” I hollered above the roar of the mower. He turned to face me and his eyes went wide. I stopped in my tracks as one of his very memorable, if not downright charming, smiles appeared on his lips, causing me to suck in my breath. He took out his earbuds and after turning off the lawn mower, he innocently said,
“Hey Meg. What’s up?” Ah, well I think you’re gorgeous, is what my mind wanted me to say. I shook my head, dispelling the thought. No, I had walked out here for one reason only.
