Steadily Iseult replied, “Mother Isis chose to adopt me through Selk.
“Selk then told me why I could no longer access the Great Library. Followed by this, Selk informed me of the way to approach you.”
“That Mark is not allowed in these knowledgeable halls,” Seshat imperiously informed Iseult.
“Lady Seshat, please. I am also charged with freeing Mother Isis from her stone prison. Thoth’s Knowledge is the only place I can go for the research I need,” Iseult implored.
Selk tilted her head and quietly asked, “You can free her?”
“I can try,” Iseult promised with wide eyes.
Seshat shook her head slowly as thoughts raced through her eyes. Slowly she raised her dark eyes and resolved, “Thoth himself banned the Mark. I can’t go against my husband, but there is another way if you are willing to work for it.”
“Lady Seshat the lives of good men are at stake. There is nothing I won’t do for their safety,” Iseult vowed.
