Ted interrupted again. “We put a GPS tracker in your car. I sure as hell didn’t want to lose you. After you turn into the parking lot take an immediate left. Go to the third row and turn right. You’ll see a bright red Jeep Cherokee parked next to a shopping cart return station on your left. Got it so far?”
“Yes.”
“Okay, park in the vacant space on the street side of the Jeep and lock your doors. I want you to turn on the inside lights, pull down the sun visor and look like your adjusting you makeup or something. Are you clear with all that?”
“Yes, sir.”
“I don’t know if they’ll try to nab you tonight or just keep you in sight. In either case, we’re picking them up. If there’s any action lie down across the front seat.”
Ted hung up.
Lisa did as instructed. She parked her car and flipped down the illuminated visor. A minute passed, then two. Nothing. And then a pair of headlights appeared in her rear view mirror. They flashed to high beam, and a Chevrolet Impala sped up and screeched to a halt beside her car on the driver’s side. Lisa ducked.
Before the occupants of the Impala could get out five FBI vehicles closed from all directions. The left-side doors of the red Jeep opened, and two FBI SWAT team members aimed their Heckler & Koch MP5s over of Lisa’s BMW Z4.
The man on the rider’s side of the Impala raised his arms. The driver attempted to raise his handgun and fire at the two SWAT team members. A shot rang out. The .308 round from the sniper’s Remington Model 700 entered the man’s left eye, exited behind and just under his right ear and embedded itself in the Impala’s back seat.
