CHAPTER 17
I was really beating myself up for not listening to Nissi. The fact that I’d foolishly wondered if I could be a beaver was infuriating me. After all, I had just left a coop where I had always felt like I was in a spin and always trying to be like the other chickens.
Why was I losing sight of what I was here for?
I hate it when I do things I know I shouldn’t, and the very things I know I should do, I don’t. Why try to fit into someone else’s mold?
Just when I was racking my brain over why I’d stopped for so long, Nissi handed me a note to encourage me. He said to keep it, I’d need it again soon.
I sat down to read it and calm my feathers.
Highway of Life Directions
Follow Wisdom and Understanding.
Stay in your far-right lane.
Pass the Wicked Way and Temptations of the Flesh.
Get off at Righteousness.
If you run into Sin, U-turn, go up to Repent, and Carry on.
Take a right and get on the Narrow Road.
You’ll know you’re there when the way is smooth, peaceful, and fruitfulness surrounds you.
If you took a left at “The Easy Way,” you will notice it will be dry, rough, and fruitless. Turn around!
I loved this! It was so encouraging. I thanked Nissi, stuck the note in my purse, and carried on. I was beginning to have fun with Nissi, and this note connected my heart to his. I smiled and wondered just what I would have done if I hadn’t had him with me. After all, I was on a path I’d never been on, and it was nice to have the fellowship.
One morning along our journey, I woke up with new wishes, hopes, and dreams. I wanted to find a mate, build a nest of my own, have a few chicks, and soar. It was awe-inspiring to daydream. It took me away like the wind carrying a leaf.
I was eager for the daydream to become a reality.
Nissi encouraged me to fly up the mountain. “You don’t have to hike all the way up,” he told me.
