I still can’t get used to how dull everything looks without my ability to see normally. How do the Dracans manage to block an ability that’s part of my genetic makeup? It’s one of the many frustrations that define my life now. No one has told me why they abducted me, and they’re silent about the artifact, too. Marla has been a great help as far as teaching me how to survive here, I must admit, but she’s as tight-lipped as the rest of them about what I really want to know.
Where is the artifact, and why did they take it? Why am I here? Where are my friends and family? Will the world end? Have we failed?
As far as I know, I’ve been here three and a half months, which puts us mid-January. The Dracans have treated me well, even though they won’t allow me to return home, and I can’t escape. I’m a captive living in luxury accommodations in a palace in the lost city of Atlantis at the bottom of the ocean.
I’ve tried to send a telepathic message to my family and friends, but my wristband won’t work here. The one and only time I might have succeeded was two weeks ago when a breach in the force field protecting Atlantis gave the wristband just enough of an opening to form a connection. I felt it, but I’m not sure anyone received it, since there was no response. The wristband hasn’t worked again. I’m afraid I’ll be here forever, or at least until Earth destroys itself.
