Darius turned, startled, and dropped his glass on the ground. He gazed at the ferocious looking woman, so peaceful and serene moments before, glaring at him angrily from his patio window.
“Holy Jesus, how the fuck did you get back there so quickly and what do you think you’re doing?” He exclaimed.
“Oh, come on, Darius,” she said. “You were ready to let me back in your life just a few moments ago, just open the door and let me in and everything will be fine.”
Darius paused and stared at her, face still contorted and distorted in an unearthly way, and yes, she still seemed to be higher off the ground than she should have been for her five foot one frame.
“What are you hanging on to?” He said, feeling very puzzled as to how this woman could be standing at least a foot higher than her normal height.
“Come on, Darius, look at me, look at me, you know you want to be together with me again, we can be together forever.”
“Hold on” Darius responded. “What in the actual fuck is going on? What are you talking about? You’re not actually suggesting that…”
“Yes, I’m a vampire, Darius.” She said. “Look at me, look at the nails, look at my eyes.”
She gazed at him deeply and intense. He made eye contact with her, and he slowly began to walk toward the door.
“Yes, just come here, come here and let me in and everything will be alright”
Before he realized it, Darius had already closed half of the distance between them, when a mild grumble from Henry broke him out of the trance he’d been in.
He stopped and hesitated “No, I don’t think so.”
“Oh, god damn it, I’m going to kill that fucking dog!” she snarled to the window.
Henry looked at her and growled again deeply, before whining and walking away curling up under the kitchen table, but not taking his eyes from her for one moment
“Listen, Darius, this can be easy, or it can be hard. We had a delightful dinner, you know you want to be together with me again, and I’m here to make sure that we’re together again forever. You and I can be immortal, you and I can be together until the end of time and watch everything on the day that Earth collapses and burns.”
“You’re a fucking vampire” Darius puzzled as the reality began to set in, with a slight hint of lingering disbelief.
“Darius, let me in, you can’t stay in here forever. I can stay here as long as it takes, I don’t need food, I don’t need water, I don’t need to breathe. Darius, if you don’t do what I tell you to do, I’m going to fuckin’ kill you, but I’m going to kill your fucking dog first.”
“How is that supposed to convince me? Why would I invite you in? Why would I do anything?”
“Because I can make your life so good. We can have so much fun. I can make you so blissful, or I can just fucking kill you and make sure that you suffer the way you made me suffer.”
“Excuse me? Oh, yes I know, poor you, I was so horrible, I treated you wrong, I broke your heart, yes, that’s it.”
“You weren’t there for me, you didn’t understand. You never ever knew what I was going through, you never related to my pain and I still loved you, I was still with you.”
“You’re kidding me, right? You’re going to use what we went through as an excuse for how you treated me? After you just threatened to kill me? You’re a sociopath, the psychiatrist was right, I should never have responded to your message. I should have stayed away from you for my own safety.”
“Well, you didn’t,” She said with a sneer on her face. “You just couldn’t resist ‘because I’m so cute and you know how much you just can’t turn down a pretty face.”
“That’s not fair” Darius responded.
