I work my way cautiously down the street, making sure to remain in the shadows away from the streetlights. I duck my way through bushes, behind picket fences, and inch between motionless cars parked in poorly lit lots.
I slowly progress nearer and nearer to my target.
When there are only a few blocks left, I think I might be home free. Then I hear a familiar hissing noise.
“Joooeeey,” a voice whispers.
First I panic, looking around to find a place to hide. Then I see the source of the sound. It's Angel’s head poking out from a bush in somebody’s yard. I scurry over.
“What the hell are you doing, you crazy bitch? And why the fuck did you have to steal all my shit the other night?” I ask.
A look of disgust crosses her face.
“Forget that, I’ve been looking all over the place for you. I want to talk about this.”
Angel waves a stack of bills from the bank heist.
“You left this in one of the alleys when you ran away. You left a whole trail of bills and a couple stacks of cash like this while you were running. After those wise-guys ran into me and Jack in the alley, I found a couple bills on the ground. I knew something was up. I followed your trail behind them,” she explained.
