When the Roh’s eyes shifted and fixed on her, Neaysa suddenly started getting second thoughts. But since it was too late now, she gave herself a little shake and started. “Well my Roh, it soon became apparent that the feeds that our station here was picking up from Terra weren’t all the feeds that were available. That there were others that were only on something called ‘cable’. Wanting to make sure the Rohs had all the data I looked into this.
“Normally the only way to receive those feeds is to have a physical connection on the ground. However, I found they also used their satellites to broadcast them directionally towards the planet. Wanting to give you the best, I considered my options. One was to float a receiver to where it could catch the feed. The problem with that would be maintaining the position and the ‘dead space’ it would produce on the face of the planet. So instead I used a remote to install an intercept module in a number of satellites to pass everything that was beamed at the satellite back to us. I thought this was safest because apparently they don’t monitor the satellites nor do they repair them.”
Roh Ceeda frowned at this, “I don’t recall authorizing that.”
Neaysa bowed her head. “No, my Roh, I took it upon myself as you were busy with more important things. I admit I was trying to impress you like you told me to.”
Roh Ceeda’s head twitched to one side. She had told Neaysa to impress her at the one meeting. “Go on.”
“Yes, my Roh. Well, when I was searching through I found out that they also broadcast their internet through the satellite. Not the whole thing; just requests from users and the responses. It was rather fragmented and full of advertisements for larger sexual organs and documentaries on their sexual practices. But it also held a lot of other significant and interesting things. So I started putting together a sort of mirror ‘internet’ based on those. It’s not close to complete; I wanted to bring you a completed project. But I would be happy to open up what I have to everyone. Mind you, this is just gathering what Terrans have been searching for. No queries from me. So it is very fragmentary. But once I knew how interested Plenk and others were in this information, I wanted to offer.”
Ceeda slowly finished her doughnut and took a drink of stim. She then turned toward Javisk. “I know I am still very young. So remind me again why we are the ones running things?” At Javisk’s chuckle, she turned back to Neaysa and Plenk. “Excellent work. I am impressed.
