She thought about it for a minute and reviewed what she had experienced in the light of what he said. And remembered times she had to repeat herself a number of times to get compliance. She had assumed that it was due to not fully integrating with the being, but this made more sense. She turned back and nodded. “Ok, the reasons for setting them up like that are obvious. What about the second thing to stop other races from controlling them.”
The voice of Sinvara was strangely higher than normal which only added to the surprise of hearing him speak. Not to mention the almost sing-song way he said, “Because the path to that level is specifically keyed to the specific race called Dvane specifically!” All heads in the room spinning to him snapped him back, and his eyes widened in shock. He looked down at the third half-eaten doughnut in his hand. He dropped it with a hiss, “Dangerous things indeed. I think some substance in it has had an unexpected effect on my equilibrium. My apologies Rohs”. He lowered his head in a bow.
Ceeda and Javisk broke out in the laughter of their kind, Ceeda reaching out to slide the tray away from him. “Apology accepted friend Sinvara. I think we will mark this down as an experiment and make note of the interesting effect these have on some species.”
