Porkchop opened his bedroom door to find me standing there. “Pork, you remember how you said that you wanted to come with me the next time I went on some crazy adventure? It’s time to go. Get your shoes on. Get in my car.” It was one o’clock Christmas Eve. I had been at my mom’s house earlier in the day when I got the phone call from Melissa. We were going to Delaware.
“Where are you going?”
“We, as in me, you and Melissa, are going to Delaware.”
“Delaware?”
“Hurry, get your shoes on. We don’t have time. The lottery up there is like eighty six billion dollars. Or so Melissa says. So we are going to go get tickets.”
“But I’m supposed to be going across the bay with a whole bunch of people to go Christmas shopping. I haven’t got anyone anything. I need to go Christmas shopping.”
“No biggie, we’ll just shop while we are up there. We’ll be going right by Salisbury.” It didn’t take much more persuasion and Chop was on the phone calling everyone he had made plans with, explaining to them I was kidnapping him in the name of lottery tickets.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this.”
