“Ms. Charbonneau,” Senator Jenkins acknowledged as he held the door to the restaurant open for her to walk out. “We meet again. I was going to call you later. I hope the ride home after the dinner last night wasn’t too unpleasant.”
“Hello, Senator.” Nicole gestured for her clients to go on to the car. “No, it wasn’t unpleasant at all. Tony gave the usual team-player speech, and I reminded him of the terms of my employment with his law firm.” Nicole smiled.
Jenkins gave a little laugh. “Remind me to never cross you.” The senators who were with him called to him, pointing to their watches. “If you’ll excuse me, we have a short break before we have to be back for a vote. May I call you sometime?”
Nicole smiled. “Of course, Senator.”
He extended his hand for her to shake. “Then I shall make that a priority and a pleasure.” Nicole shook his hand. “And please call me Bobby.”
“I look forward to it, Bobby.”
“Bobby, c’mon, we don’t have all day,” one of his fellow senators called. “Until then,” Jenkins said as he entered the restaurant with a smile on his
face.
