"But I can't... she will then see what I am... Help me!" I whispered. "I can't reveal what I am!"
Tiye said something, now more sharply.
"But this is what you said. You have to get up and go to her," Ahmose said.
There was no way I could escape. I got up, feeling groggy and realised my dress was soaking - I must have spilled the wine cup in my lap. Tiye was seated just a step or two away and soon I was looking not into the commanding gaze of a powerful queen, but into the wide, anxious eyes of an old woman who was afraid to die. She regarded me as a miracle maker who could delay the inevitable.
