The others dozed off, but I could not. I got up and climbed the stairs that led up to the roof. I spent the rest of the night sitting in the chill night air, watching the setting moon, the temples, and the light growing on the horizon with pain in my heart.
"Where are you Daniel?" I whispered into the night as if speaking his name out loud could connect us.
The only answer was the odd sensation that the stars were singing to me.
