Just In Case
Dan’s gone. Two years now. The kids, scattered far, never visit. They say it’s my fault. Didn’t I know something was wrong? Life throws crazy curves. I count my blessings: little home paid off, little pension, little dog snuggled at my feet, little pistol in hand just in case I want to go too.
