"She's unconscious." I thankfully breathed. "Sorry, Cinder, but I had to." Rotating her body around, so I could pick her up I again asked for forgiveness. Once I had positioned her comatose body in my arms I swung around and began to transport her back to her room. Stopping when I saw the Ward's door open.
"Hey, Jakob. Is she okay?" Mhykal inquired seeing the limp Hellhound. "Are you okay?" My Vampiric friend questioned.
"I had to use my powers to knock her out, unfortunately." I returned trying to retain the steadiness in my legs.
"Here let me take her." Mhykal offered taking Cinder's sleeping human form. "You go sit down."
"Yeah." I moaned. "Thank you." Following him back down the stairs I parked myself on the sofa while my long-time friend carried our newly acquainted friend took Cinder back to her bedroom. Sitting on the regal Victorian sofa, I rested my head in my hands using my thumbs to hold the bottom of my chin, with my elbows positioned on my knees. Bent over the edge of the sofa, I looked down at the dark royal red French Rug and began to wonder aimlessly about what I had seen. With my ability, I had entered Cinder's memory to discover which one was arousing her panic. As soon as I had found it, I reviewed the memory, mentally placing myself there to see its events. After the memory had played through, I ended up relinquishing it to the darkest part of her memories. I typically did this activity on Humans, so I wasn't sure how long the memory would stay dormant in an Unnatural’s mind, especially one who is so haunted by a controlling Shadow, but I had to do something to stop her panic.
"So, what did you do?" Mhykal requested exiting out of the hallway and arriving to sit on the couch across from me.
"First, how is Valeryie?" I asked looking back at him. Staring into his own mimicked fearful gaze.
"Valeryie is doing a lot better thanks to Viktor's Time Abilities." The Vampiric sighed rubbing the back of his head. "Yalu is still worried but she is extremely grateful that Cinder was there to stop it from becoming worse."
"Yeah, she may have indeed saved Valeryie from Logan's brutal strength, however at the cost of some of her own sanity." I exhaled.
"So, you buried the memory?" Mhykal sustained. "Does that even work the same way?"
"I don't know. But I had to do something to stop her from freaking out especially when she did not want any form of medications and relaxants." I deeply exhaled. "Besides I didn't entomb the entire memory, just the portion that was giving her the most distress."
"Distress? What the hell was it, that had her so spooked?"
"Her enjoyment-" I answered back coldly.
"Enjoyment? Cinder enjoyed killing Logan?" Mhykal sparked completely in shock. The same countenance I had when she told me.
Flashing myself to the memory I remember seeing her amused grin in the bleak shadows of the night. But it wasn't the darkness, there was something she had fixated on that was ten times darker than even the gloomiest part of that cloudy night. Knowing it only to be a shadow with the same red eyes I had named Cinder for, I watched the Hellhound smile even harder. Her lips curled so far back that it showed all of her brilliant white long fangs. The blood just drooling down her canines onto her lower lip and crashing into the ground underneath her muzzle. Her colic was sticking straight up, her tail was curled up to the point it nearly sat along her back. Her cropped ears pitched as far up as they could go. I could hear the Shadow talk to her and laugh into the darkness his voice extremely cold. It was clear why she feared ever talking about this creature. As she smiled, she quickly went back to holding down Logan. The poor hybrid barely maintaining the strength to fight against the Hellhound any longer. From there I observed his body combust. His skin charring and bursting under the orange glow of the bright flames. Once Cinder had seen the flames she backed off the corpse leaving it to burn itself out. It was there that I had stopped the reel to make that small part of her memory dormant.
"Jakob?" I heard Mhykal call. His voice snapping me back to reality. "Was it that dark, that even you were stalled by it?"
"Yeah. It was very dark. Definitely like she was under some sort of stimulus." I returned looking directly into his eyes. "She seemed fine all the way up until she clutched the doorknob. Then the motion it felt as if it triggered the memory."
"Ouch. Cinder has already been through enough, now to fear her own capabilities-"
"The powers are not the problem. She seems to have a healthier control over them the longer she is well, her. But it's that shadow being she talks about who she fears more than anything." I returned. "I understand why, he came across as a strict, dark, and controlling being. Something who definitely has the potential of making Cinder crazy."
"Oh wow. So, you did see him?" Mhykal queried taken aback by my own dark gaze.
"Yeah."
"The enjoyment, you were talking about do you think it was by whatever this Shadow-"
"Possible. It is hard to explain." I interrupted, feeling interrogated by my friend.
"I can see that." He sighed back.
"We will just have to keep an eye out for anymore new behaviors that I am sure will arise, as time goes on." I continued slowly standing up, "I am going to go check on Valeryie and Yalu."
