As soon as the elevator doors slid open, a well-dressed woman holding a tablet engraved with the firm logo stood waiting. “Good morning, Victoria, I’m Natalie, and I run HR at the firm. You’re our home-grown girl as I understand it, correct?”
“I am, yes. Am I the only one?”
“You are indeed. The rest of the twenty members of your associate class consist of nine others from the United States and the remainder are from other countries. Our international diversity is one of the core values the firm prides itself on,” Natalie answered. “Come with me. I’ll give you a brief tour and then show you to your office.”
Natalie moved fast and there was no way Victoria would be able to remember all the departments she was whizzed through or people she was introduced to. As they came back to the place where they began, Victoria felt like she had booked at least a mile and all in heels no less. She was about to ask Natalie one of the questions she had written down as they sped about the office, but as soon as Natalie opened the door to what she announced would be her office, Victoria lost all coherent thought but one. Her office was amazing! Everything about it was breathtaking from the furniture, to the newest electronic and communication products set out on her desk, to the view.
“I see you like what you’re looking at,” Natalie smiled as she watched Victoria’s reaction.
