Thistles
“Young lady, I’m not asking you, I’m telling you.” I hadn’t seen Gran this stern since she had caught Parker and me digging a swimming hole in the middle of her backyard when we were nine, and it brought me up short. “You need to get out of this shop right now, before you start resenting it and the place it has in your life. You may think you’re restless now, just wait until a few more months have passed and you’re still not happy with what you’re doing. Now I may not know all of what you were doing for the Army for the past eight years, but I know you weren’t writing thank you cards and making flower deliveries. Get out there and do something other than that…get out of this shop and go do something that’s worthy of how smart you are. You’re not even tapping your potential, and right now we need our Vivian back and happy and satisfied again.”
