“So she’s a divorced insurance fraud investigator with a clean record,” I said finally, after we agreed to call it a night and plopped down on the couch. “But Jackson’s an architect. Why the hell would she be investigating an architectural firm? Or why would they need her?”
Parker shrugged. “Maybe she really is the girlfriend.”
“Maybe, but I’m just not getting that feeling. There didn’t seem to be much chemistry there. Familiarity, definitely. But no goodnight kiss or anything?”
“They were in public,” Parker pointed out. “Maybe he’s just smarter and more discreet than ninety-nine percent of those cheating assholes. We sure haven’t found any hard evidence yet…but then again, we’re just getting started.”
