The next morning I showed Jenius my journals. Not only was she impressed that I had the presence of mind to record everything, but she also couldn’t get over the number of details I captured.
“These journals are my insurance policy in case I get sent to the looney bin. Covering all my bases. You know. Just in case,” I told her.
“Just in case of what?” she asked.
“Just in case.” Enough said.
Once Jenius was reconciled to the facts of our situation, we became a truly dedicated team, Protectors of Dewbabies. Naturally, Jenius had a ton of questions. She also had a mountain of concerns about the well-being of her new friends. I started with wind gusts and ended with the near-misses we’d had with Diggity Dawg.
I made sure she understood and accepted my theory on accidental happenings—as in there are none. I used the arrival of Dewbabies and how they ended up in our care as the prime example. It was their destiny as well as ours. I made sure she understood that divine appointments are worth showing up for because someone’s entire future may be affected.
