If the dam breaks, those houses could be washed away. I’ve got to do something!
Kalvin went down to the stream and pulled on a large rock. The mud made a sucking noise as he lifted it up. He easily carried the rock, even though it weighed a couple of hundred pounds. Kalvin’s upper arms wedged the boulder into the break at the top. Water flowed over the stone, but the break wasn’t as deep.
He went back for a second rock and then another. He noticed the gap wasn’t getting any deeper, but was growing wider. As the stream continued to rise, more water flowed through the break.
I’m fighting a losing battle. The break is growing faster than I can plug it. I‘ve got to warn the humans of the danger!
