“Moochee won’t go into the cabin if any of the thieves are close by,” added Koko. “Tango, you keep watch on the roof and warn Moochee if one of the men heads back to the cabin.”
Again, Koko ran to the cabin door and barked. As soon as the door started to open, he ran toward the woods. It was a good thing that Koko didn’t wait, because Stewart ran out with the pole and nearly got him. Koko raced into the woods with all three men chasing him. Stewart followed the same path Koko took, while the other two men went to either side of him. Tango climbed on top of the roof as Moochee ran into the shack.
Koko weaved through the woods, glancing toward the cabin from time to time. When Moochee didn’t come out the door, Tango jumped to a tree and through a window into the cabin. Benny and Stewart saw the cat, stopped chasing Koko, and hurried toward the cabin. Koko barked out a warning, and Tango jumped out the window to the tree. As Benny tried to enter the cabin, Moochee bolted out the door.
Moochee ran past Benny, but the crook dove forward and grabbed Moochee’s hind leg. Moochee spun around and bit Benny’s hand, and the crook released his leg. But before Moochee could get away, Stewart looped a rope around his neck. Moochee was caught!
