All of a sudden, Stewart burst out of the woods with a pole, ran past Moochee, and charged toward Koko. He thrust the pole at Koko, but the little dog dodged to his right and ran toward Willard. The fat man tried to head off Koko, but the motorbike slid out from under him. Willard landed facedown in the mud. As Koko ran past him, he stepped on Willard’s head. Stewart slapped at the little dog with the pole, missed, and struck Willard on the back.
As he tried to get away, Moochee slipped and fell in the mud. Climbing to his feet, Moochee ran to his right. Benny was a few feet in front of him, trying to make the loop on his pole bigger. The pole flew from Benny’s hands when Moochee crashed into him. Both of them toppled into the muddy field. Benny reached out and grabbed Moochee around the middle. But the muddy dog squirted through his fingers like a greased pig. As Benny leaned to his side to retrieve his pole, Moochee ran past him. Standing in front of Moochee was Willard, wiping mud from his face. Coming toward the trapped dog from behind was Benny. Willard’s legs were spread apart to help him keep his balance in the mud. Moochee ran between Willard’s legs. The big man grabbed the muddy dog but couldn’t hold on to him. Willard lost his balance and fell forward. As he went face forward into the muddy field again, his head hit Benny in the stomach.
