Lucia must come to terms with her new role as the Light as she navigates the Dissentient, which seems to have its own agenda. The Supreme Sovereign is closing in and Lucia needs to accept her role in the Prophecy before more innocent lives are lost.
I am a young adult sci-fi/fantasy author and children's book author and illustrator. I've been a middle school teacher for 8 years. When I'm not writing, I do yoga, eat gluten-free, and fangirl over Doctor Who.
Throughout The Lucia Chronicles, Lucia is on a quest to figure who she is and what exactly that means to the future of the Nation's citizens. And yet, the more she finds out, the more questions arise.Who is she? Who do people think she is? Is she still the same person, despite what she finds out about herself? These are questions we all begin to ask ourselves as we navigate through life.

The Dissentient: The Lucia Chronicles Book 2
I press my forehead to my knees and take a deep breath. I lift my head and scoot back toward the coppery book which had snapped closed when the photograph fluttered back down into its pages. With shaky hands, I slowly stick my fingers between the pages, carefully flipping the Vates Secretus to where the photograph acts as a bookmark, the odd warm tingle pulsing through my fingertips. I retrieve the photograph and examine it, holding it just past my nose. Even though the woman looks remarkably like me, I should have took the time to notice her clothing. Her clothing is nothing like what we wear in The Nation—the natural, neutral colored fabrics; instead she wears a bright blue sweater that makes her light eyes sparkle back at me and her long chestnut colored hair cascades over her shoulders in beautiful, loose curls. Her smile is….flirtatious…and I can’t help, but wonder who was behind the camera taking the photo.
