Lucia, Nic, and Jack tell congruent stories of life in The Nation and in the Dissentient as everything reaches its boiling point and each must decide what they are willing to risk to save the lives of their fellow citizens from the Supreme Sovereign’s rule: Life, Love, or Truth.
I am a young adult sci-fi/fantasy author and children's book author and illustrator. I've been a middle school teacher for 8 years. When I'm not writing, I do yoga, eat gluten-free, and fangirl over Doctor Who.
This is the beginning of the final book in The Lucia Chronicles trilogy. Lucia's been captured by the Supreme Sovereign. She can wait for the men in her life to find her. Or she can bust herself out. Because it's already been seen, many years ago, by a Seer...who happened to be her great-grandmother. Lucia has come into her powers and now she's become the ultimate weapon to take down the Supreme Sovereign. It's all part of the plan. Not every damsel in distress needs a man to rescue her.

The Beacon: The Lucia Chronicles Book 3
My mind drifts to Nic and my father and I hope that they’re not too worried about me. I couldn’t let them in on my plan; it would have been too risky. But I read some more of the Vates Secretus after my Dissident friend Kerough returned it to me when we left the Camp. And according to my great-grandmother, Ellen Barnes, this is indeed part of the plan. I had to let them catch me. I have to let them think they’ve captured the most valuable weapon in their quest for The Nation to come to its full empiric glory. What weapon could be so valuable? Me.
