Eddie Caldweld was on the floor leaning on his elbows watching TV. Kids with performing pets were on it.
Eddie was trying not to care about the large black dog on the rug near him. His mother said they would take in the dog.
Uncle Reese brought over the dog. The dog just stayed curled up near Eddie staring at him. Eddie did not want this dog! If he was going to have a dog, it would be a puppy.
Eddie wanted to teach a puppy to do things.
This dog was too big. He was probably too big to learn new tricks. He seemed to be unfriendly. He did not even want to play as far as Eddie could tell. His head and tail hung down. The dog hardly wagged his tail and he had one funny looking ear that flopped over while the other ear stood straight up. The only thing the dog did was watch Eddie.
Eddie glared at the dog. He wondered what fun can you have with a dog like this?
A puppy would pull on a rope.
