Theoris’ eyes refocused. “Nothing much, really. I’m so close with this that I can feel it.”
Hypatia sat up. “Your project and Honute?”
Theoris nodded.
Hypatia was silent for a long time. She wanted to be interested, but she was torn with conflicting emotions. How does one reconcile the feelings of talking to one lover about a past lover? She took another spoonful of ice cream. Her thoughts took her to the first month of Honute’s and her marriage. It was heaven she told herself. Honute had just been discharged from the service and entered the School of Religion and Antiquital Studies. Pharaoh was paying for the entire program. Back then she thought it was grand. The school, Honute, the potential. Now, it was plain wishful thinking. “Honute was wonderful when we first married.”
Theoris looked at Hypatia, “Pardon?”
