Carnal Moon
He raised one of Gwen’s hand to his lips. “Let’s go sit on the couch. There are a few things we need to discuss.”
Gwen sighed. “Back to the dreaded couch.”
Leaning closer, Nick whispered in her ear, “There are other activities we can do on the sofa after we talk.”
Gwen’s heart pounded as she followed Nick. “Is one of your topics your, um, drinking habits?”
“I sound like an alcoholic.” Nick chuckled as he sat.
A blush colored Gwen’s cheeks as she seated herself next to him. “I’m not sure how else to put it.”
Nick laid his arm behind Gwen on the couch. “I prefer feeding or drinking when referring to my nourishment. For more sensual situations, it’s more of tasting the blood rather than consuming it.” His eyes turned wicked. “Well-placed bites are incredibly erotic.”
“I’d like to find out,” Gwen quietly said, her cheeks turning pinker. “And it involves being sexually aroused, right?”
“Yes,” Nick nodded. “Otherwise, it’s rather unpleasant.” He felt her growing agitation. Had she made the connection that he fed from women?
“And you do this for everyone you bite?”
Again, Nick dipped his head. “To do otherwise is needlessly cruel.” He wouldn’t steer the conversation, but rather see where Gwen took it. She was formulating thoughts in her head; a little patience and she’d reveal them.
“It occurred to me,” Gwen hesitated. “You go to other women for their blood.” She slowly raised her eyes as if afraid of what she’d see. “And you have to be intimate with them?”
“Not like you’re thinking,” Nick gently said. “Keep in mind that when I feed, it involves bondage, not love. There are other ways to attain sexual pleasure than penetrative sex.” Gwen’s tension was palpable. Her apprehensive face hinted at a past where she’d been betrayed. He’d seen the signs enough times to recognize it. “Some vampires go to different humans while others of us choose one person called a Donor. I fall into the second category.”
“So you do have another woman?” Gwen asked tensely. “Do you have feelings for her?”
“We’re not a couple and our relationship is strictly a D/s type,” Nick replied carefully.
“Does she have a name?” Gwen softly asked.
“Ana,” Nick replied. Time for the first bump in the road.
