As the three friends walked and walked, and they met Sally Sheep.
“Baa, baa, don’t play hide and seek with Walter Wolf, baa” she bleated, threw up, and scampered away.
The three friends looked in amazement at Sally Sheep, and then at each other.
“Hide and seek with Walter Wolf?” they said all at once, shaking their heads.
“Maybe, somewhere there is a playful cuddly muddly Wally, who likes to play,” Pim thought out loud.
“Cuddly muddly? Wolves are predators and as predators they don’t like playing, they like hunting. Their idea of playing is to go out and hunt animals who are smaller, weaker, and slower than they are. Believe me, that’s no fun at all,” Mycroft explained. “Of course, there is not a single wolf at Dog-Rose Camp!”
“N-n-no w-w-wolves,” stammered Pim.
Sally’s advice had inspired Alexander to start composing a new poem about how brave he was:
When Alexander Pig goes camping,
He sets a trap.
A deep pit he digs,
A very good trap it is!
And there goes Wolf, looking up at the stars,
Also some planets, maybe Mars.
And then,
WHAM! BANG! BOOM!
Wolf meets his doom!
