“That’s not how it works,” Gary said, somewhat irritated that his boss was suddenly being so bossy, “and how did you know that I had completed the program? I just now thought to myself that I had completed it. I still need to run a test to make sure the programming responds the way it should. Do you realize how many errors there could be in this code? An asterisk or symbol in the wrong spot could shut down the entire program.”
“We are confident in your ability,” Yugin said. “As for how I knew that you were done, well, it’s my job to know where you are in the progress of your work.”
Gary noticed that Yugin had an earpiece. He had never seen that before and wondered if that was Yugin’s link to what Gary was doing.
“Give me an hour to run a test and then I can upload it,” Gary said.
“No,” Yugin was forceful. “Upload it now. Our main computer will run an evaluation and then run the program if nothing is wrong.”
“And if something IS wrong?” Gary was feeling a little heated.
“I’m sure that it will be fine,” Yugin said, “but if there is something wrong, that the computer can’t fix, then it will come back to you. In the meantime, Gary, I have another assignment for you. So please do as I ask and upload the file. Now!”
