“Did you call the police, ma’am?” the office asked.
“Yes I called the police. I want this man arrested. I’m pressing charges of attempted kidnapping. My husband is an attorney, and not just any attorney. He’s the head of one of the biggest law firms in the county.”
“Yes ma’am,” the officer said. Then he looked at the young man holding Gary. “Did you see what happened?”
“Why are you asking him?” the woman screamed, causing her son to cry even harder. “Can’t you see that my son has been traumatized? You need to arrest this man immediately and get him out of my son’s sight.”
The officer sighed and thought that it might be best to get both Gary and the potential witness off to the side and away from the hysterical woman. “I’ll need the two of you to come with me,” the officer said to Gary and the man holding him. The officer took Gary by the arm prompting the other man to release his hold and the two went with the police officer.
“Officer?” the woman called out.
“Yes ma’am?”
“I will need your badge number and name before I leave.”
“I’ll be right back, ma’am. Please wait right here.” The officer sighed again. Sometimes the simplest cases were the toughest to deal with.
