It's important to me to get my stories to the public in memory of my parents and now my mother-in-law. They loved my stories and I believe that you will too! Here's information about me: Drew has been writing all of his life, or at least from the time he knew what words and stories could do. In second grade he was writing audio plays and now, many...many years later, he's still writing. He's written the Tokorel sci-fi series, which has received numerous accolades, great reviews and awards, and numerous other books both fantastic and original. He loves sci-fi and fantasy but he also writes non-fiction as well. He lives in Fort Collins, Colorado with his wonderful family and runs a video production company to pay the bills, in addition to working for the city Parks Department. He loves people, so feel free to Email him anytime if you have questions about his books or want to chat. He can be reached at author@drewbankston.com.
I've always loved "Alice in Wonderland" and bring it up from time to time in my books. This is one section where I did this and it really seemed to work. Gary is very nervous about this visit to a new company. The nervousness is compounded by the fact the the building he's entered is quiet, not as well lit as most and just plain creepy! He begins to imagine things and compares where he is to a childhood story that would give him joy when he was younger. A little comic relief within the story more for the character than for the reader. Please enjoy this small excerpt.

Compass Society
As much as Gary had felt nervous before, he now started to chuckle to himself. With the arrow pointing down, he couldn’t help but think about Alice in Wonderland and looked around to see if there was a small bottle or mushroom lying around with the tag “eat me” or “drink me” attached to it. Although he resisted actually doing so at first, for some reason he couldn’t help but chuckle and glanced quickly around the base of the door. As he did so, a small slip of paper caught his eye. He bent down and picked it up. It was a slip of paper from a fortune cookie. He turned it over to read; “Small acts will help you in big ways.” He once again chuckled to himself. I guess there’s the small and big I was looking for. Temporarily feeling less nervous, he reached for the doorknob and opened the door.
