Carmella was crying but smiling by now but didn't understand why. She closed her eyes, tears still streaming, delving into the vision, and as she did, it became clear to her again. "There was a memory of a man, a handsome and distinguished man. It was like I was seeing him through her eyes. She loved him so much, more than life itself. She almost worshiped him and wanted only to make his every moment happy and his every breath content with her. She wanted only to serve his every need forever, to keep him always in love with her. Then I heard the sound of babies crying, but the crying didn't make me sad. It made me happy; happy that they were the product of the love I have for this man. We had our own world, and it was paradise…But…"
Carmella started to cry harder, as she slipped deeper into the memory of her vision, but also became irate and spiteful. Trix almost interrupted again, but Maggie quickly cupped a hand over her mouth and held her back. Carmella continued. “They murdered him! They killed my darling in his sleep! My love. My world. My reason for living!... My babies! My darling angels! They’re screaming in pain. I can’t get into the house, but I got to one of them before it was too late. I covered my baby boy in my own dress to douse the flame, and I got him out of there, but he was barely alive, and taking his last precious breaths.
I looked up at the moon, the Winter solstice moon, and the Desolate one himself came to my side and promised me justice. He wiped away my tears and comforted me, then told me what I have to do.”
