“We’re going to Australia for Christmas!” she burst out, completely oblivious to the fact that she was interrupting their conversation.
“Oops, sorry for interrupting,” she added as an afterthought. “But, we are going to Australia!”
“What are you talking about?” burst in both Jase and Riley in unison.
“I just got a call from Mom and Dad! Dad has a new book contract researching the sea life around Australia. They thought it would be perfect to do it over our Christmas break so that we could go with them!”
“Isn’t that a really long way away?” questioned Riley.
“Yeah, SUPER far! But that means that they have opposite seasons from us, so it will be summer there and we can swim in the ocean. We might be able to see Screech while we are there instead of needing to wait until next summer when we go to cottage!” Sammi Jo was talking so fast she was out of breath.
“Whoa!” said Jase, “What do you mean the seasons are opposite? Why is that?”
“I don’t know much about it,” said Sammi Jo, “but I DO know that it is on the opposite side of the world from us and in the southern hemisphere, so that means our winters and summers are opposite. Wanna go to the library and see what else we can find out?”
