Josefina Paralelos sat high in her saddle as she and her five companions rode on horseback toward a solitary cabin at Rogers Lake, Arizona. She listened to the horse's hooves pounding into the frozen earth, rhythmic deadened thuds, repetitive and hypnotic. She glanced over at the San Francisco Peaks and marveled at the eerie beauty of the snow-covered mountains. The innocence of nature calmed her. A landscape untainted by human indulgences or immoralities. Pristine and pure, unlike she and the company surrounding her.
She rested back on her saddle as they stopped short of the cabin. The stiff material of her husband's pants rubbed the sensitive skin of her inner thighs. Magda, Natalia and she had cut their hair short, wore loose-fitting jackets and long pants to disguise their gender. Josefina smiled. The deception had worked so far in the stagecoach and train robberies. The sheriffs and their posses looking for a gang of six male outlaws instead of three upstanding married couples.
